2024 has been a wild roller coaster ride. From celebrities
introducing newborn babies into their family to celebrities saying
goodbye to their loved ones.
Following the deaths of Mathew Perry, popularly known as Chandler Bing on Friends, Sir Michael Gambon who was known for playing Dumbledore in the Harry Potter movies, and Angus Cloud, the Euphoria star - in 2023, the entertainment industry continues to say farewell to more celebrities who have impacted the world in many different ways.
Here are 10 celebrities who passed away in 2024.
1. Liam James Payne, aged 31.
Pop singer and songwriter, Liam Payne, who was best known as a member of the boy band One Direction, was found dead on 16th October, 2024 at the bottom of Buenos Aires after allegedly jumping from the balcony of his third-floor hotel room.
The former One direction band member died, leaving his fans and family members in a dark place.

2. Quincy Jones, aged 91.
The Grammy award winning songwriter best known for producing Legendary hits of the late Micheal Jackson, and TV shows like The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air died on 3rd November 2024, in his home in the Bel Air section of Los Angeles.
The legendary producer who not only worked with Micheal Jackson but also Frank Sinatra, Snoop Dogg, Queen Latifah, and others won 28 Grammy awards, tying him with Beyoncé as the most awarded living person and second-highest Grammy winner of all. The star dies, leaving a huge legacy behind him for generations to take up and improve upon.
3. Ronald Pierce Ely, aged 86.
Ronald Pierce Ely was known for his more sophisticated adaptation of Tarzan in the 1966-1968 TV series Tarzan. He died on September 29, 2024, in California's Santa Barbara County, with his daughter later announcing his death on October 23rd on an Instagram post.
4. Cissy Houston, aged 91.
Emily Dinkard, professionally knows as Cissy Houston, the mother of music icon Whitney Houston, passed away on October 7th, 2024. She was an American soul and gospel singer who began singing with her three siblings in the family gospel group, The Dinkard Singers.
In 1997 and 1998, Houston won the Grammy Award for Best traditional Gospel Album for Face to Face (1996) and He Leadeth Me(1997). Emily died in her home in Newark, New Jersey after fighting Alzheimer's disease.
5. Dame Margeret Natalie Smith, aged 89.
The 89-year-old British actress known for amazing role as Professor Minerva McGonagall in the Harry Potter film and Violet Crawley in the
Downton Abbey series passed away in a hospital on September 27, 2024. The Oscar-Winning actress was laid to rest on Monday, 4th November 2024 in an intimate funeral held in Southwest London.
6. James Earl Jones, aged 93.
The voice behind iconic characters; Darth Vader and Mufasa said farewell to the world on 9th September 2024 in his home at Dutchess Conty, New York. He was an American actor known for his deep, booming voice and the stutter he had as a kid.
7. Bill Cobbs, aged 90.
American actor, Bill Cobbs, who featured in movies like Night at the Museum, Sesame Street and The Bodyguard passed away in his home on 25th June 2024. The actor never married and has no kids. He has been laid to rest at Riverside, California, USA.
8. Song Jae-Rim, aged 39.
Korean actor Song Jae-Rim, who was last seen in the recent Korean Drama, Queen Woo, died on 12 November 2024 in his apartment in Seoul's Seongdong District. The actor's death has sent a large population in the world into morning as it was unexpected and sudden.
9. Dexter Scott King, aged 62.
Dexter Scott King, the third son of the Reverend Martin Luther King Hr., died of prostate cancer on January 22, 2024, in his home in Malibu, California. He was an American civil and animal rights activist as well as an author. he served as the chairman of the King Center for Nonviolent Social Change.
10. Glynis Johns, aged 100.
Glynis Margaret Payne Johns, a British actress with a career spanning several years on stage and on screen. She starred in Mary Poppins as Winifred Banks, the suffragette mother of the children.
The actress died in West Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA of natural causes.
As we all continue to mourn all the people who have lost their lives, may we learn to cherish the gift of life, live every moment to its extent and draw closer to the Almighty God.
