The Grammy Awards are annual awards that recognize achievements in the global music industry. They are presented by the Recording Academy of the United States and the Latin Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. The awards were first held in 1959 and have since grown to include more than 25 fields and 94 categories. The trophy depicts a gilded gramophone, which is why the awards are also called the Grammys
The Grammy Awards have a mission statement that says: “We celebrate music’s ability to connect us all, to fuel the creative spirit, and to inspire positive change in the world.”
The nominations are based on the eligibility period, which is usually from October 1 to September 30 of the previous year. The awards are voted by members of the Recording Academy, who are music professionals and creators.
The most Grammy nominations of all time belong to Quincy Jones, who has received 80 nominations and won 28 awards. He is followed by Beyoncé, who has 79 nominations and 28 wins, and Jay-Z, who has 77 nominations and 23 wins.
The Grammys 2023, officially known as the 65th Grammy Awards took place on Sunday, February 5, 2023, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California. The nominations for the 2023 Grammys were announced on November 15, 2022, and the winners were revealed during the live ceremony and the pre-show.
They honoured the best recordings, compositions, and artists of the eligibility period, which is from October 1, 2021, to September 30, 2022.
