The Black Stars of Ghana put on a commanding display against Chad, securing a resounding 5-0 victory in their FIFA World Cup qualifier on Thursday night. The win keeps Ghana at the top of their group with 12 points, setting up a crucial clash against second-placed Madagascar on Monday, March 24, in Morocco.
Ghana wasted no time asserting their dominance, with Bournemouth striker Antoine Semenyo opening the scoring just two minutes into the game. The early goal set the tone for a relentless attacking performance from the Black Stars. Inaki Williams doubled the lead in the 31st minute, finishing off a well-worked move to register his first goal of the qualifying campaign.
Five minutes later, Jordan Ayew calmly converted from the penalty spot after a foul in the box, extending Ghana’s lead to 3-0 before halftime. The Black Stars continued their dominance in the second half, with defender Mohammed Salisu rising highest to head home a corner in the 56th minute. Ernest Nuamah sealed the emphatic victory in the 68th minute, slotting in Ghana’s fifth goal of the night.
With this result, Ghana remains in pole position in the group with 12 points, two ahead of Madagascar, who sit second with 10 points. The Black Stars will now shift focus to their crucial encounter against Madagascar in Morocco, where a victory would strengthen their bid for World Cup qualification.
