Twitter changed into X as part of a rebranding strategy by its owner, Elon Musk, who wants to create an “everything app” that can do more than just social media. X plans to use artificial intelligence and online banking to offer users a variety of services, such as messaging, shopping, video, and podcasts. Musk said that the name Twitter was too limiting for his vision and that X represents his goal of unlimited interactivity
Twitter was rebranded as X on July 23, 2023 by its owner, Elon Musk. The concept for Twitter as X was first announced by Musk in October 2022, when he tweeted that acquiring the platform "is an accelerant to creating X, the everything app". The rebranding was part of Musk's vision to transform Twitter into a super-app that can offer a variety of online services, such as messaging, shopping, video, and podcasts.
